On March 27, 1985, attorneys Rick Rosenfield and Larry Flax traded in
the courtroom for the dining room. Having always wanted to get into the
restaurant business, they pitched their legal pads to serve
hearth-baked pizzas. They introduced flavors and tastes from around the
world, from Thai to Jamaican Jerk … all on a pizza. All of CPK’s
innovative pizzas are creatively designed on a delicious crust, and
hearth-baked to perfection. Also served are creative salads, distinctive
pastas, soups, sandwiches, appetizers and desserts, including favorites
like our Chicken and Shrimp Jambalaya, BBQ Chicken Chopped Salad,
Singapore Shrimp Rolls and Key Lime Pie.

Now, California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) is a leader in authentic
California-style cuisine with a recognized consumer brand and an
established, loyal customer base.

The story of the highly successful Daily Grill restaurants began in 1984,
when the three founders opened The Grill on the Alley, an embodiment of
straightforward, classic American fare, located in Beverly Hills. The Grill on
the Alley was modeled after the great big city grills of yesteryear; the three
founders sought to maintain the tradition of those fine, old establishments by
offering first-rate fare, attentive service, and a familiar, clubby atmosphere.
The response was tremendous, as The Grill on the Alley evolved into one of the
Los Angeles area’s best-known must-do places to dine.

In 1987, the founders observed the public’s recognition of The Grill on the
Alley, and set out to create a version that would be available to a larger
number of people at more accessible prices. The result was the first Daily
Grill, which opened in Brentwood, California an upscale Los Angeles area
neighborhood. Daily Grill offered a casual, familiar setting with attentive
service, along with simply prepared, classic American fare at affordable prices.
It was an unbeatable plan, one that led to instant success for the founders, who
eventually formed Grill Concepts, Inc., the corporate entity behind Daily Grill.

Toscana was created out of Mike Gordon’s dream of having his own restaurant.  His passion was ignited by the inspiration of Doc Severinsen whose enthusiam for everything Italian led them to open one of LA’s original Tuscan Trattorias.  Together they assembled the best team of Italian chefs and waiters who not only introduced the most amazingly simple Northern Italian food, but who taught all of us Angelenos how to appreciate their Italian way of enjoying food and wine.

From the day Toscana opened its doors in 1989 it became “home” to its customers whether locals, families, celebrities, or visitors from around the world.  True to its unwritten credo:  Treat everyone as if they are family, all guests are welcomed like long-lost friends, each given a kiss when they arrive and, usually, a bear hug when saying “grazie, arrivederci”.

Toscana is now celebrating its 20th anniversary and, after two decades of perfecting and personalizing our remarkable cuisine and service, we have earned our reputation as a notable trattoria as well as one of the most successful Italian restaurants in Los Angeles.  Visit us and you will be warmly greeted by General Manager, Francesco Greco and waited on with care from some of LA’s longest standing, professional waiters.

Toscana’s menu is better than ever.  At dinner time you will find a brightly colored bowl of fresh vegetables, known as “pinzimonio” , accompanied with a bowl of our house balsamic vinegarette for dipping.  Everything from thin-crusted pizzas to mouthwatering pastas,  a juicy 26 ounce bistecca Fiorentina, or perfectly grilled fish, to the finale of stelline, crispy puff pastry star shaped cookies, will make you want to come again.  And again.
